On June 21, the Coalition of Ukrainian Trans Organizations joined the KyivPride 2026 March to draw attention to the rights and needs of the trans community in Ukraine and to reinforce KyivPride’s demands.

This year, the NGOs “Resistance,” “Emancipation,” and “TPivden,” along with the “VoiceT” initiative, joined forces with the community to form the Trans Column. Its participants emphasized that trans people’s rights are a pressing issue. Trans people are defending Ukraine on the front lines, contributing to Ukrainian culture, volunteering, and working in various spheres of public life, all while continuing to face legal and systemic barriers.

One of the symbols of the Trans-Column was a 13-by-5-meter trans flag, which the participants carried as they marched.

Requirements for Trans-Colony 2026:

— the implementation of ICD-11 in Ukraine and the creation of a simplified, depathologized procedure for medical and legal gender transition;

— combating discrimination and transphobia against trans people in the areas of health care, education, employment, and access to public services;

— ensuring access to high-quality, cross-disciplinary services and the licensing of estradiol injection preparations in Ukraine;

— the removal of the provision on the annulment of marriages of trans people from the draft of the new Civil Code, or the refusal to adopt it;

— Amending the Criminal Code of Ukraine to include transphobia in the list of motives for hate crimes.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Trans March and helped make the voice of the trans community heard during KyivPride 2026.
