In late July, the team from the NGO “Resistance” took part in Stockholm Pride 2026. Throughout the week, we participated in advocacy meetings, panel discussions, and other events, representing the Ukrainian LGBTQ+ community on the international stage.

As part of its advocacy efforts, the team met with Swedish government officials at the Riksdag—Sweden’s parliament—representatives of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ulrika Gillert, president of the Swedish Union of Journalists, as well as Members of the European Parliament Alice Kunke, Emma Wisner, and Jonas Sjöstedt.

During our meetings, we discussed support for Ukraine and the need to protect the human rights of LGBTQ+ people, particularly during a full-scale war.

At the Pride House venues, the Resistance team also participated in panel discussions. Key topics included the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people during the war, civil partnerships, and advocacy for the rights of the trans community.

We wrapped up the week by participating in the Stockholm Pride march, where we marched alongside our international partners, carrying Ukrainian symbols.

We would like to thank the Swedish organization RFSL for organizing this event, for its support, and for giving us the opportunity to represent the Ukrainian LGBTQ+ community on the international stage.
